Properly Boost Your Battery, it’s Easy!

There are a few steps to properly boost your battery if it has died. To make this process easier on you, we have detailed what matters, and what to consider when you find yourself in a dead battery predicament. Follow these useful steps below, and then stop by our dealership to have your faulty battery replaced.

  1. Have a donor vehicle park closely to your model without touching it. Turn off the donor vehicle and then open the hood of both models.
  2. You will then utilize jumper cables and attach the red cable clamp to the positive terminal on the dead battery and the other red cable clamp to the positive terminal on the working battery.
  3. With the black clamp you will attach to the negative terminal of the good battery.
  4. Finally, you’ll wait just a few minutes, and then return to trying to start the dead vehicle. Once the vehicle with the dead battery starts, you will want to leave the vehicle running for at least ten minutes to ensure that battery is properly charging.
  5. Remember, do not try to jump your vehicle if the dead battery is damaged or leasing in any way.

At Newins Bay Shore Ford, we can't wait to help you get back on the road, and get the battery boost you need.
